Have you been worrying about future events that seem out of your control, "doomscrolling," or ruminating over intrusive thoughts?

Are you stuck in the cycle of having the same conflicts or tense conversations on repeat, wishing you knew what to say or do to achieve greater security and stability?

Do you feel taken advantage of or experience burnout from constantly prioritizing and taking care of others’ needs?

These are some of the concerns I frequently hear from clients who are aiming to overcome one specific challenge or address long-standing patterns from deep-rooted issues. I work with adults of all ages and some of the areas that I have focused on with clients include adjustment, anxiety, life transitions, stress, assertiveness, confidence, self-esteem, boundaries, communication, conflict resolution, attachment, codependency, relationship changes or loss (break-ups/divorce), and sexual challenges and dysfunction.
Another concern that I have heard from clients is that they are certain that they must be the first person to ever have a particular thought, feeling, or experience (or are objectively terrible people for it), and are therefore ashamed to share openly. While starting therapy can feel empowering and relieving, I understand that it can also be difficult to discuss content that perhaps you have never shared with anyone else before or are doubtful can be received with acceptance and nonjudgment. I strive to offer compassion and warmth to my clients and like to consider 'being easy to talk to' as one of my specialities.

During the initial session or intake, I might ask not only about what brings you to therapy, but what brings you to therapy at this time. Is there something about this moment versus three months ago or three months from now that led you to reach out to me when you did? What would happen if you continued with the status quo and didn't pursue therapy? What would your life be like if therapy worked well for you and was a success? There are no right or wrong answers.
Future sessions will involve getting to know you. You might find yourself wanting to share something with me about an artist or athlete who inspires you. Or a story that you believe is seemingly unrelated to the work you're doing in therapy. These stories all comprise who you are and are essential components of building rapport and a therapeutic alliance. Also, you might be surprised to find just how relevant and interconnected these stories are to the rest of the work you're doing in therapy!
