Services
I offer talk therapy sessions for adult clients, both individuals and couples. Virtual sessions are held through a video meeting platform or by telephone. I often refer to cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), an extensively-researched, empirically-supported form of talk therapy that targets thoughts and behaviors to improve mental and physical wellness. That being said, I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all therapy experience. I collaborate with clients to build a therapeutic alliance and develop an individualized plan tailored to each client’s needs. Please read more about my specialties to learn about my experience and what you might expect if you choose to work with me.
Sessions are 50 minutes in length, but extended sessions may be available by request. Typically, I meet with clients once per week or every other week, but have met with clients as frequently as multiple times per week for intensive work, or once every few months for maintenance following a course of regularly-scheduled sessions. Some clients begin therapy to overcome one specific challenge, whereas other clients begin therapy to address long-standing patterns that might affect them in numerous areas of life. Occasionally, clients begin therapy for one reason, but new goals unfold over time. Some clients I see for a few months; others I see for many years. I encourage mutual reflection on the therapy journey and what kind of support might be most helpful. Clients are welcome to remain in therapy for the length of time that they find beneficial for accountability and growth.
Mind Over Matter Therapy, LLC is a boutique, independently-owned therapy practice with an emphasis on personalized care. I believe that therapy is an investment in one's future and am an out-of-network provider by choice. My per-session fee is $200. If cost is a barrier to working with me, please inquire about the availability of lower-fee options. Many of my clients choose to not involve their insurance companies in their therapy treatments; however, I am happy to work with you if you have out-of-network benefits and would like to attempt to pursue reimbursement from your insurance company after you pay me for your services in full. At no extra charge, I can provide you with a monthly superbill (a receipt that you submit to your insurance company that outlines necessary information related to your therapy services and payments). I cannot guarantee if or how much your insurance company will reimburse you. If you are strictly dependent on reimbursement from your insurance company, you might consider seeking an in-network provider to guarantee access to insurance benefits. Regardless of your plan, utilizing your out-of-network insurance benefits will require that I provide a diagnosis code on your insurance documentation. Please verify your benefits with your insurance company prior to scheduling a consultation with me and note that I do not communicate with insurance companies directly. Some questions that you might want to ask your insurance company are:
Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health counseling? What is my out-of-network deductible/how much do I need to spend before my out-of-network benefits kick in? What is my policy period and how much of my out-of-network deductible has been met so far this policy period? What is my coinsurance/what percentage of the session fee will you reimburse me for and are there any limits to that amount?
Your insurance company might ask for the CPT (current procedural terminology) code(s) that will be used for your therapy services. You may provide the following (not all of which might be applicable to you):
90834 (psychotherapy session that lasts 38-52 minutes -- this is standard for individuals)
90837 (psychotherapy session that lasts 53 minutes or more -- this is for when a client might request an extended-length session)
90847 (family or couples psychotherapy session that lasts 50 minutes with the patient present)
